Contemporary Military Romance
From the war-torn streets of Baghdad to the bittersweet comforts of the home front, two wounded hearts navigate the battlefield of coming home from war in this explosive eBook original from newcomer Jessica Scott.

Keeping his men alive is all that matters to Sergeant First Class Shane Garrison. But meeting Jen St. James the night before his latest deployment makes Shane wonder if there’s more to life than war. He leaves for Iraq remembering a single kiss with a woman he’ll never see again—until a near fatal attack lands him back at home and in her care.

Jen has survived her own brush with death and endured its scars. And yet there’s a fire in Shane that makes Jen forget all about her past. He may be her patient, but when this warrior looks her in the eyes, she feels—for the first time in a long time—like a woman. Shane is too proud to ask for help, but for Jen, caring for him is more than a duty—it’s a need. And as Jen guides Shane through the fires of healing, she finds something she never expected—her deepest desire.

My review

I’ve never really read any military romance before Jessica Scott, I was really blown away by the plot.  Seeing as how Scott is an Army Captain in the military I feel like she got the details down, reading Because of you made you feel like you were on the front lines feeling what Shane was feeling.

And to have a heroine like Jen, well that was just amazing.  I have got to say that I had never really read a modern day book about a heroine who has overcome great odds like Jen has..

War is all Shane Garrison knows until one fateful night when he steals a kiss from Jen St. James.  They do not cross paths again until Shane is sent home injured, and now Jen has to find the strength within herself to care for him as well as overcome her inner struggles of being an incomplete woman. (Not my words).  Shane and Jen were made for each other, not because they each have their own inner and outer wounds to bear but because they find the strength they need in each other to survive.

Because of You was an inspirational read for women who have come back from loss like the heroine has, it teaches you that you have to dig down inside yourself and find the strength to push forward with your life.

I have Until There Was You waiting in my TBR pile and I can’t wait to get started on another military romance from an author who knows firsthand what she is writing about.
